I was trying to come up with an original name for a photography page (it's harder than you'd think!) because I didn't want to just use my name. You can search pretty much any word with "photography" or "images" after it and you'll find a photography page. So, I racked my brain for something that was special to me. A small object, and "ladybug" popped into my head. I liked the sound of Ladybug Images or Photography, but I wanted the name to be a little more different so I thought "snapshots" gets the point across, and it's just a little different. But why did "ladybug" pop into my head, and I remembered that that is what my Pop Pop, who passed away when I was in Kindergarten called me. His little ladybug.

I googled "ladybugs" to do a little research to see if there was a story behind the name, and it turns out there is a cool one! (Thanks National Geographic Kids!) European Farmers gave the little red bug the name when pests were eating their crops, so they prayed to the Virgin Mary and the little red bugs came and wiped out the pests. The farmers called the bug the "Beetle of Our Lady" which was eventually shortened to "Ladybug."

Ladybugs were named after the Virgin Mary, and my Pop Pop called me his little ladybug.

I quickly realized the name was perfect.
